Amazon’s Right Now Climate Fund is supporting a major restoration effort in Mumbai’s Thane Creek, a critical sanctuary for tens of thousands of flamingoes and nearly 180 bird species. In partnership with Hasten Regeneration, the project will remove 150 tons of plastic waste, restore 150 hectares of mangroves, and create sustainable jobs—particularly for women in nearby communities. By improving water quality and reviving natural habitats, the initiative aims to protect this unique urban ecosystem and ensure its long-term resilience.
